The antidote was unobtainable, but this house slowed down the poisoning. We thought we had time and we didn't see the consequences coming. I'm sorry he took it out on the staff and for anyone else he hurt.
But, when I say he's no longer a threat, I mean it.

I mean that in our world, there was a cure for vampirism. It's a long drawn-out story that many vampires thought was a myth. Two years ago, we found it and a year ago it was used.
Except, for yesterday, I found it in this house. Again. And, rather than Damon awakening as a monster, playing Go Fish for his stone and then waiting for even more consequences, I cured him.
He never wanted to be a vampire in the first place.
It's what it sounds like. It cures one vampire. They become human.
Like I said, there's a longer story surrounding it that is basically one big soap opera, but in Damon's case, he's human now. He can't become a vampire again.
